School and Office Supplies

Lightly used school and office supplies can be donated to New River Community Action for use in their Head Start Program. School and office supplies that are no longer usable can be recycled at Staples. Pens, mechanical pencils, markers, highlighters and crayons can also be brought to SustainFloyd’s Reuse/Recycle events.

 

Preparation

All school and office supplies should be clean and dry when dropped off for reuse or recycling.

Writing implements dropped off at Staples or SustainFloyd’s Reuse/Recycle events should have no leaking ink, packaging removed.

Accepts working and non-working pens, mechanical pencils, markers, highlighters and crayons.

Additional Information

New River Community Action’s Head Start prepares children for lifelong success through school readiness by partnering with families to support goals in the home and school environment. They accepts donations of school and office supplies including the following items:

  • Puzzles, books, puppets, plastic animals
  • Learning toys that teach letters, phonics, numbers, shapes, and colors
  • Office Supplies
  • Markers, crayons, scissors (blunt tip), pencils, dry erase markers, glue bottles, masking and 2” packing tape, play dough, Velcro
  • Paper towels and tissues
  • Media table materials:  play sand, rice, oatmeal, beans, and birdseed

Staples Recycles:

  • Backpacks and lunch bags
  • Binders and zipper pouches
  • Crayons and colored pencils
  • Empty glue sticks and bottles
  • Pencils and pencil pouches
  • Pens, markers and highlighters
  • Rulers and drafting tools
