Garden waste such as weeds, fallen leaves, lawn clippings, etc. can be composted. Large or woody items should be chopped or shredded. If you are not composting at home ask around for farms or gardeners who might take it. Star City Compost is a membership program with multiple drop-off locations in Roanoke and the surrounding area.
Preparation
Materials for composting should be all vegetable based. Never use meat or dairy products.
