Plastic #6: Polystyrene
#6 plastic (Polystyrene) includes Styrofoam used in take out food containers, egg cartons, and packaging, as well as rigid plastic used in CD cases, clothes hangers, and plastic cutlery. Polystyrene contains toxic chemicals and is not easily recycled. It is not accepted at Floyd County recycling locations. The organizations listed below will accept Styrofoam for recycling.
Preparation
Food containers must be washed clean and dry. Packaging materials must be clean, white, not broken up and free of dirt, tape and stickers.
