Garden: Plant Pots and Trays

Several local nurseries and farms can take clean dry plant pots and trays for reuse, including Mother’s Child Nursery, Wood Thrush Natives, Dulaney’s Greenhouse, and I-Tal Acres. Dulaney’s has a “free for the taking” bin where they put items they cannot use for customers to pick up. Check with individual locations for the sizes they will currently take. SustainFloyd accepts sizes from 4″ to 1 gallon for seed starting projects. These can be dropped off at our monthly recycle/reuse events. Many plant pots are made of #5 plastic. If these are old or damaged they can be recycled with #5 plastic. They must be clean and dry.

Preparation

Pots should be clean and dry. Most businesses will not take pots with logos of other companies. Check recycling labels on unusable pots to see if they can be recycled.
