Electronics

Electronics in good working condition, including computers, flat screen televisions, gaming devices, printers and audio equipment, can be donated to a secondhand store such as Angels in the Attic, Goodwill, or The Restore in Christiansburg for resale. For broken items, the Floyd County Transfer Station accepts most electronics for recycling. Staples and Best Buy accept electronic items for reuse or recycling. Some computers can be returned to manufacture for refurbishing or recycling. Companies such as Dell, Apple, Best Buy and Amazon offer trade in on your used items. There are also online businesses that specialize in buying and reselling used computers.

Preparation

Donated or trade-in working electronics should include power cords and other necessary attachments. Also include user manuals or other documentation if available.

Alternatives

Consider repairing your older computers and electronic devices rather than buying a new one. Repairing your older electronics reduces waste and the need for valuable earth resources that are used to build new devices.

A local school or non profit may be able to use something that no longer works for your needs. Chec around your local area to see where your old devices may be needed.
