Batteries: Rechargeable
Alkaline household batteries can be replaced by a more environmentally safe alternative. Rechargeable batteries are a better substitute because they have a long life. That means fewer batteries need to be disposed of. Rechargeables are available at a wide variety of hardware and big box stores including Home Depot, Lowe’s, Best Buy, Walmart, Batteries Plus, and CVS, as well as online. There is a small selection of rechargeable batteries at the Refillery at the Floyd Farmers Market. Home Depot and Lowe’s will take rechargeable batteries for recycling. SusatinFloyd also takes rechargeable batteries at its monthly Recycle/Reuse events.
