Glass: Reusable Jars and Containers
Reusable glass jars and containers have a wide variety of uses. Containers with leak-proof lids and suitable for refilling with household cleaners, soaps and shampoos are accepted at the Floyd Refillery. Many local vendors will accept their containers back for reuse. At the Floyd Farmers Market I-Tal, Bird & Hopper, Gnomestead, May Day Medicinals, and C&M Honey Farm welcome returned jars and containers. Standard Mason jars, clean and without misty film, can be reused by local vendors and are collected at SustainFloyd’s monthly recycling events. Harvest Moon will also take reusable glass containers for customer use. Ask your local vendors if they will accept returns. See Related Listings below for other types of glass not listed here.
Preparation
Floyd Refillery: containers must have leak proof lids and be clean, dry and free of odors. Dispensing style lids are particularly useful. If labels can be removed that is much appreciated.
Local Vendors: they must be clean and dry. Generally these vendors cannot reuse the lids, but check with vendors for specific details.
Mason jars: jars must be clean and dry. Must be free of misty film and permanent rings. Do not need lid.
Harvest Moon: containers must have leak proof lids and be squeaky clean, dry, and free of any residue food aromas from previous use.
